🔘 Daily Notes chronicles my unedited thoughts at the moment, from day to day 🍵
The air feels cool this morning after the hot 103° day. During the early morning, before the sun gets above the horizon, the stomas of all plants open, allowing for interchange of oxygen and carbon. Maybe that’s why the air always smells and feels so good in the early morning.
I just listened to a podcast titled “Light Watkins: Putting Your Heart Voice Into Action.” Light has the perspective that our first impulse is often guided by our “heart.” When a person suppresses that first impulse, things get cloudy.
I thought this was an interesting topic, because I know so many people who are stuck in decision paralysis, or stuck in a way of being that isn’t getting them anywhere. It seems the way a lot of modern culture is setup makes people vaguely comfortable but with an overall sense that they are missing something—and whatever that something is, they can’t quite put a finger on. It’s easy to sell someone things, or numb them with media, when they are in a state like that.
Because this Daily Notes series is a simple project, where I write off the top of my head about what my thoughts are in the moment, I am not going to drag anyone down into the weeds about meridians or organ systems, such as the chong mai, kidney, heart and small intestine, that modulate our agency, propriety, and directionality in the world. Feel free to read an article here if you’re curious.
Suffice to say, I think Light has a good point, and that point shouldn’t be overthought. I think people, if they are in a relatively stable place, and take some time and space for themselves, can understand if they are deceiving themselves or not. So in the end, listening to your heart is really about self deception, and honesty.
Maybe you could ask yourself today:
“Am I being honest with myself?”
